Drive the North Coast 500, Scotland's epic 500-mile (805 km) coastal route starting and ending at Inverness Castle. Along the way, stop at Dunrobin Castle (fairy-tale seat of the Clan Sutherland with falconry displays), hike the Old Man of Storr (a 55m pinnacle on the Isle of Skye with dramatic views), sample whisky at the Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain (known for its tall stills and coastal maturation), and cross the Bealach na Ba pass (a hair-raising single-track road rising to 626m, often called the 'Pass of the Cattle').
